Mosfellsbær Public Library
About the library
Mosfellsbær Public Library is the main cultural institution of Mosfellsbær.
At the library we emphasize on providing good service for everyone.
In addition to literature and information service, a lot of cultural events and exhibitions take place in the library.
Here you can read books and magazines, browse the internet, meet people, take part in events, view exhibitions, have a cup of coffee, relax and enjoy yourself. You’ll need a library card to borrow books and other material.
Library Card
The Library issues private library cards for individual use only.
The cards can also be used in the Seltjarnarnes Public Library and the Reykjavík City Library. Library cards are free of charge for for residents of Mosfellsbær, senior citizens, people with disabilities and children under 18 years of age. Others pay an annual fee.
Loans
Check-out periods vary, depending on the material; books are usually checked-out for 30 days. All library material can be returned to any Reykjavík City Library branch, as well as to Seltjarnarnes Public Library.
Your Responsibility
If library material becomes overdue, a late fee will be charged for each overdue item. Accordingly, parents or guardians are responsible for their children’s loans.
Internet
The library offers use of computers and internet access. Free Wi-Fi access is also available.
Mosfellsbær Art Gallery opened 2005 as a part of the library.
There are approximately 10 exhibitions a year.
The goal is to make interesting and diverse exhibitions of modern art every year. The artists chosen are a mixture of experienced ones and the ones taking their first steps. Access is free of charge.
